Terms of service
Last updated September 12, 2026
These terms are a contract between you and Shelfcook, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. They apply to the Shelfcook mobile app, shelfcook.app, and our emails. By using any of them you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. Version 2026-09-12.
1. The service
Shelfcook helps you keep a pantry, get recipe suggestions from what is in it, cook them, and keep a grocery list for what is missing. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Features described on the site as arriving in a later release (household sharing, community posts, a web pantry) are not live yet; each gets its own terms, published on this site, before it launches.
2. Recipes, nutrition, allergens, and food safety
Recipes are generated for your pantry from a curated corpus of reference dishes. They are suggestions, not instructions from a professional. Nutrition figures are estimates. Allergen flags are best effort, computed from ingredient names, and can be wrong or incomplete; always read the labels on what you cook with and never rely on Shelfcook where an allergy could cause harm. Shelfcook makes no medical or health claims and is not a substitute for medical advice. Minimum internal temperatures shown in cooking mode are general guidance; you are responsible for cooking food safely.
3. Accounts and age
You may read this site without an account. Using the app needs one. Sign-in is by email link, Sign in with Apple, or Google; keep those accounts secure and tell us about any unauthorized use, because you are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and at least 16 if you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (or the lower age your country has set for consenting to online services). When you register you confirm your age and accept these terms and the privacy policy; we record the time and the version you accepted. A household member profile for a child is not an account and carries only a first name and dietary needs.
4. Subscriptions
- There is one plan, called member, sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play: $7.99 per month or $39.99 per year, at the price shown at purchase in your store's currency.
- Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. 7-day free trial, then $39.99 per year. Automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel any time in Settings.
- Monthly: 7-day free trial, then $7.99 per month. Automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancel any time in Settings.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; you keep access until the end of the paid period. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- Before subscribing, one free scan preview shows the dish names Shelfcook finds in your pantry; opening the recipes needs the trial or a subscription.
- Fair use: members can run 40 photo scans and 200 recipe generations a month, reset on the first of the month. Manual pantry entries, saved recipes, and the grocery list are unlimited.
- When a subscription ends, your pantry, saved recipes, and grocery list stay readable; scanning and recipe generation lock until you subscribe again.
- Offer codes and introductory prices are issued by Apple or Google under their rules and may be limited to new subscribers. Prices may change; we will give notice before a change affects you.
5. Your content
Your pantry, household profiles, lists, notes, and cook log are yours. We process them only to run the service, as the privacy policy describes. Terms for content you share with other people (community posts, comments, shared recipes) are reserved for the release that adds those features and will be published here before it ships.
6. Acceptable use
Do not scrape, reverse engineer, overload, or interfere with the service, resell access, share one account across households, abuse the public forms, or use Shelfcook to break the terms of the app stores or of the providers it relies on. Automated use of the app's scanning and generation beyond the monthly caps is not permitted.
7. Emails and notifications
Account and support emails are part of the service. News emails go only to people who opted in, carry our postal address and a one-click unsubscribe link in every message, and stop within ten business days of a request at the latest. Push notifications go only to the categories you switched on, never during your quiet hours, and no more than one a day except replies. We never use misleading subject lines.
8. Third-party services and trademarks
Shelfcook uses services from Supabase, Vercel, RevenueCat, Resend, PostHog, Sentry, an AI provider for ingredient recognition and recipe generation, Apple, and Google, each under their own terms. Product names that appear in your pantry from barcode lookups belong to their owners. Shelfcook is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of them.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shelfcook is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss related to a recipe, an allergen flag, a nutrition estimate, food spoilage, or data loss. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes rights that consumer law in your country gives you and that cannot be excluded by contract.
10. Termination
You can stop using Shelfcook at any time and delete your account in Settings or from this site. We may suspend or end access for violations of these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Clark County, Nevada, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim where you live.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. For material changes we update the date and version at the top, show a notice in the app, and email account holders before the change takes effect; continued use after that date means you accept the new terms. Questions: support@shelfcook.app.
